On July 21st at 6 a.m. Tony DeMasters Great Basin Team 2 took command of the Mud Lick, Haynes, and Iron Fires. Information on these fires will now be provided here on the Mud Lick InciWeb page. A brief summary of each of these fires is below.MUD LICK FIRE The Mud Lick Fire started by lightning on July 8, 2021. The fire is located approximately 23 miles due west of Salmon, Idaho on the Salmon-Cobalt Ranger District. The fire is burning in grass, brush, dead/down timber, and trees and is burning in the 2000 Clear Creek Fire scar, north and east of the Bighorn Crags and west of Panther Creek near the Blackbird Mine. Evacuations in lower Panther Creek and in Napias Creek are in effect. Road and trail closures are also in effect. The following trails are closed to all uses: Lick Creek #010, Birch Creek #023, Gant Ridge #028, Indian Creek #026, and Big Deer #029.
