The Club Creek Fire started 3 miles southwest of Root Ranch. Crews are doing point protection on values at risk, and are working closely with Root Ranch personnel. The fire is one of three burning in the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness on the Payette National Forest. The Club, Rush Creek, and Vinegar fires were started by lightning on July 15, 2021. A Type 3 Incident Management Team took over the fires on July 19th.There was no infrared overflight the night of Thursday-Friday, July 29-30, so there is no acreage update this morning. However, a reconnaissance flight yesterday showed burning on the southeast corner. The north side of the fire, facing Root Ranch, seems to have mostly burned itself out along the ridgetops. Considering that the fire is growing in the opposite direction of Root Ranch, in addition to rain forecast for the weekend, the Forest and incident management team will be evaluating tactics and strategy
