Nine Mine Fire (Wildfire)

 Orient, WA – The Nine Mine Fire is located about 3 miles north of Orient, WA. This lighting caused fire started on Wednesday, August 4th and has burned approximately 180 acres of forested land. Northeast Washington Incident Management Team 3 was dispatched August 7th to assist the initial suppression efforts by Joint Fire Protection District 3-8 (JFPD3-8), and Washington State Department of Natural Resources. Fire camp is established at the Orient School grounds. Evacuation level 2 in place for Imperial Way and Sand Creek Roads. Nine Mine Rd is closed to traffic. Today, The Northeast Washington Incident Management Team 3 established an Incident Command Post at the Orient School.  Team 3 is evaluating the fire and resources needed to contain and suppress this fire. Crews demobilized from other fires have joined the current fire line crews to work on establishing containment lines around the fire.
