The Jake Gulch Fire was reported on Sunday, September 5, 2021. The Fire is located 2 miles west of Vienna on the Sawtooth National Recreation Area. The fire is burning in lodgepole pine and subalpine fir. It is burning in very steep terrain. The fire is estimated to be 330 acres. Fire personnel have been ordered and are arriving at the fire which includes hotshot crews and smokejumpers. Aerial Resources are being used to assist those working on the ground. Evacuation of campers and hikers is being conducted to ensure the safety of the public as well as fire personnel working on the fire.
