The Presumido Peak Fire was discovered Saturday afternoon within Presumido Peak, approximately 10 miles north/northwest of Sasabe in Pima County. Due to Sunday’s high winds and low humidity, the fire grew to 2,000 acres. It is burning in rugged terrain, with some areas inaccessible to crews, through tall grass and brush. The fire continues to remain active on the western and southern flanks. Monday’s objectives include, limiting fire spread using natural features, trails and limiting roads to the north and east, to protect nearby structure’s, communication and power infrastructure, as well as grazing allotments and US Fish And Wildlife land. Crews will also work to limit fire spread by using natural features to the south and west of the fire to limit spread onto the Tohono O’odham Nation. A Red Flag Warning is in effect across the fire area, including Pima, Cochise, Santa Cruz, Graham and Greenlee Counties through 8PM. Wind gusts up to 40MPH are forecast with low relative humidity….
