Incident Overview: The Stockade Canyon Fire ignited Tuesday, July 3, 2024, approximately 19 miles northwest of Gerlach in Washoe County, Nevada. Crews are suppressing fire utilizing approved tools within the Wilderness Study Area. With the air being a little clearer yesterday, we were able to do some water bucket dipping. The plan is to continue securing the fire perimeter to the north and east, and utilize air support as much as possible, conducting water drops as visibility allows. Objectives: minimize acres burned in Sage grouse habitat, protect identified cultural and historic resources in fire area, and prevent spread into adjacent jurisdiction and populated areas.
