Incident Overview: The Thunder Fire started on July 24 approximately 2 miles northwest of Williams Lake on the Salmon-Cobalt Ranger District. The Thunder Fire is currently being management by a Type 4 incident management team and a local incident commander. Resources on the fire include 1 Type 2 crew, 4 engines, and air support. Fire activity has recently slowed due to cloud cover and lower temperatures and firefighters have been able to actively suppress the fire. Firefighters will continue to go direct on the fire focusing on areas of remaining fire activity. It is likely the fire activity and smoke will moderate as temperatures increase later in the week.
