Incident Overview: On the evening of July 24, 2024, a storm with abundant lightning hit the region, with no exceptions to the Idaho Panhandle National Forests. Lightning strikes that made contact with the ground have caused numerous starts, and are currently being assessed by fire management officials.The Bluff Creek Complex consists of the Junction Fire, East Fork Fire, Dominion Point Fire, and the Buffalo Fire. At this time, the Junction Fire is being prioritized for resource allocation, due to the immediate values at risk. The East Fork Fire was the first fire reported on July 25, 2024 at 5:03 AM, followed by the Junction Fire at 9:46 AM, Dominion Point at 3:46 PM, and the Buffalo Fire on July 26 at 9:36 PM. The fires are burning along both sides of the Bluff Divide, approximately 13 1/2 miles southeast of Avery, ID; five and a half miles west from Gold Creek Campground; and approximately two miles northwest of Junction Ridge.Current Acreage for Each FireJunction Fire: approximately 276 acresEast Fork Fire: approximately 25 acresDominion Point Fire: approximately 270 acresBuffalo Fire: approximately 2 acres
