Incident Overview: The Snag Fire on the Boise National Forest started on the evening on August 5th after a storm system producing cloud-to-ground lightning moved through the area. The cause of the fire has been determined as lightning. The team is using a full suppression strategy on these lightning-caused fires.Great Basin Team 7 will assume command of the Snag and Dollar Fires at 6am on August 7, 2024 and will continue to manage the Boulder Fire, theBoulder Fire, the Bulltrout Fire and the Wapiti Fire on the Boise National Forest as well as the Wolf Creek Fire that started on the Payette National Forest and has spread to the Boise National Forest. All of these fires, along with a number of others were started by the same series of thunder storms on the 24th and 25th of July. Currently no evacuations have been ordered, road closures are in effect and please avoid the fire area so that fire suppression efforts are not impacted. https://www.fs.usda.gov/managing-land/fire/uas/if-you-flyThe Boise National Forest, Idaho Department of Lands, and Bureau of Land Management are in Stage 1 fire restrictions on state, endowment, private and federal lands within the West Central Mountains Fire Restrictions Zone.
