Incident Overview: The Grassy Mountain Fire is 80-percent contained with full containment anticipated Saturday, Aug. 24.The 268-acre fire is burning in pinyon-pine, juniper, brush and grass on public lands west of Pony Springs, about 30 miles northwest of Pioche, Nev. Fire behavior is moderate with wind-driven runs, torching and spotting. Firefighters have stopped the fire’s forward progression and are securing and adding depth to the control lines.Four Type 2 Initial Attack hand crews, two bulldozers, three water tenders and a Type 3 helicopter are suppressing the fire.The lightning-ignited fire was first reported shortly after 2:30 p.m., yesterday (Wednesday).
