Incident Overview: The Manderson Fire is burning in steep low canyons with tall grass and  heavy, eastern red cedars. High winds with over 25 mph the fire are making it difficult to get the incident under containment. During the initial operational period, local fire crews tried to establish a safe holding line on the North and East flanks. The West flank had over 10 structures threatened so Firefighters started point protection with the heavy equipment and engines.The fire received rain  on the fire late that evening which cooled the edges and allowed crews go more direct. Please remain clear of the area and allow resources to work safely in the area. Gooseneck road has been reopened, but there is still heavy smoke so please, drive carefully.
