Mountains and Hills Across Scotland

This site is a growing collection of mountain and hill routes from across Scotland — a landscape of rugged ridges, quiet glens, sweeping plateaus, and coastlines where peaks rise straight from the sea.

I’ve spent years exploring these places on foot and by bike: hiking, running, scrambling, and wandering in all seasons. I’ve completed several full rounds of the Munros, worked my way through the Corbetts, and continue to chip away at the Grahams/Fionas and many of the lesser‑known tops scattered between them.

Every route here comes from days I’ve actually spent on the hill. They’re written as practical, honest accounts: ideas, notes, maps, timings, and impressions — the sort of information I’ve always found useful when planning my own days out. Whether you’re chasing lists or simply looking for a memorable outing, I hope you find something that sparks inspiration.

🏔 Northern Highlands

A vast, wild region of long approaches, broken massifs, and airy quartzite ridges. These hills often feel remote and committing, but the reward is huge horizons and a deep sense of solitude.

❄️ Eastern Highlands

The Cairngorms, Glenshee, and Lochnagar form a high plateau of tundra‑like terrain, carved by deep corries and long glens. Further northeast, quieter and more isolated hills offer peaceful days with big views.

🗻 Central Highlands

Home to some of Scotland’s most iconic mountains — Ben Nevis, the ridges of Glencoe, the peaks around Glen Etive, Lochaber, and Alder. Steep corries, narrow crests, and dramatic relief make this a playground for classic hill days.
