Red, White, and Booze: July 4th on Clear Lake with the Walkers and Parsons
If you ever find yourself wondering what happens when the Walkers and the Parsons collide on a holiday weekend, let me save you the suspense: itâs loud, itâs legendary, and it usually involves someone losing a flip-flop in open water.
This past July 4th, we descended upon Clear Lake, Texas like a pack of patriotic piratesâarmed with coolers, questionable floaties, and enough sunscreen to grease a walrus. Stacy and James Parsons were already dockside when we arrived, looking suspiciously like theyâd pre-gamed with a mimosa or three. Classic.
đ€ Boating, Boozing, and Barely Controlled Chaos
We kicked things off with a boat ride that started peacefully and ended with James trying to DJ from his phone while simultaneously steering us into a wake zone. Stacy, ever the lake queen, had her captainâs hat on and a drink in hand, shouting nautical terms she definitely made up. (âStarboard your vibes, people!â)
The drinks were flowing like the currentâmargaritas, hard seltzers, something neon blue that may or may not have been legal. At one point, someone handed me a red-white-and-blue Jell-O shot and yelled âAmerica!â I didnât ask questions.
đ Rafting: The Float Heard ‘Round the Lake
Then came the rafting. We tied our floats together like a makeshift flotilla and drifted into party mode. Stacy brought a unicorn raft that deflated halfway through, leaving her clinging to its limp horn like a rodeo queen. James tried to grill hot dogs on a floating cooler. It didnât work, but we admired the effort.
We met other boaters who joined our raft chain, and suddenly we were the unofficial July 4th float party. Music blasted, drinks passed hand to hand, and someone started a cannonball contest off the back of a pontoon. I won, obviously. My splash soaked three strangers and a dog. Sorry, Sparky.
đ Fireworks and Friendship
As the sun dipped below the horizon, the lake lit up with fireworksâboth official and suspiciously homemade. We anchored near the show and toasted to freedom, friendship, and the fact that no one had fallen off the boat (yet).
James gave a heartfelt speech that started with âI love you guysâ and ended with âWho stole my koozie?â Stacy danced on the deck like it was her birthday, and I just sat back, soaking it all inâthe laughter, the chaos, the unmistakable magic that happens when the Walkers and Parsons unite.
𧚠The Aftermath
We limped back to shore sunburned, waterlogged, and grinning like fools. Our cooler was empty, our playlist was fire, and our memories were fuzzy in the best way. July 4th on Clear Lake wasnât just a weekendâit was a full-blown aquatic adventure.
And next year? Weâre bringing more Jell-O shots, a backup unicorn raft, and maybeâjust maybeâa sober captain.
Let me know if you want to turn this into a shareable post or add some photos. I bet Stacyâs got at least one of James mid-cannonball.
