Easy to set up, light weight and allows different positions to follow (cover) the sun. It held up very well during wind gusts and moderate rain. I suggest staking down all the included lines when it’s raining because the lines on the side help keep rain out. It is designed to move like a tent when it’s windy and seemed flexible. Easily had room for two camp tables and two camp chairs inside.
Kelty Discovery Shade Shelter
You can plan a picnic but you can’t predict the weather. The Kelty Discovery Shade is sized to set up over a picnic table and keeps everyone cool and comfortable with protection from the sun. We purchased this shelter for our Desert Southwest trip to the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Zion National Park trip to make sure we had enough shade available to us during the heat of the day. It performed great, I even camped without the tent one night and used the Shade Shelter to provide some over-head protection, but otherwise just camps on a picnic table, with a sleeping bag, sleeping mat and that was it.
I’ve used it for non-camping uses also, to work on my car when there was no shade available. I have had zero issues with the fabric. So far it’s shown to be durable and essential. People who walk by comment on how cool it is.
