After a few sips, I wandered down to The World’s End, a cozy pub steeped in history. Named for the old city walls, itâs the perfect spot to toast to the start of an adventure.

The morning began in Grassmarket, a lively square nestled beneath the castle. Itâs brimming with indie shops, vintage stalls, and street performers. I grabbed a coffee and browsed handmade crafts before heading up to the Royal Mile. This historic stretch is lined with tartan shops, whisky boutiques, and hidden closes that whisper tales of the past.
A stop at The Witchery by the Castle was a must. This opulent restaurant and hotel oozes gothic glamourâthink candlelit corridors and velvet-draped dining rooms. Even if youâre not staying, pop in for a peek or a decadent lunch.

Sunday morning was sweet and serene at the Honeycomb Tearoom. Tucked away like a secret, itâs a haven of floral china, fluffy scones, and fragrant teas. I lingered over breakfast before heading to The Scotch Whisky Experience, where I learned the art of whisky-making and sampled a few drams myself. The barrel ride through the distilling process was surprisingly funâand the tasting room? Pure gold.
Lunch was casual but delicious at Chicken and Waffle, a modern spot serving up crispy fried chicken paired with fluffy waffles and maple syrup. Itâs comfort food with a Scottish twist, and the perfect way to wrap up a weekend of indulgence.
